The Scenario

Regarding the Real Club Náutico de Valencia (RCNV) and its concession at the Port of Valencia, the situation for 2030 is governed by specific investment requirements under Spanish Port Law.

The 2030 Deadline

The RCNV currently holds concession rights that expire in 2030. To secure an extension (prórroga), the club must undergo a "substantial modification" of its administrative concession through the Port Authority of Valencia (APV).

Investment Requirements for Extension

To extend a concession beyond its original term—often for an additional 25 to 50 years—the club must meet the following criteria:

  • Significant New Investment: The club must commit to new infrastructure projects. By law, this usually requires an investment of at least 50% of the updated value of the original concession's assets.

  • Sustainability & Innovation: Under the Valencia Port 2030 Strategic Plan, the APV prioritizes "green" investments. This includes energy efficiency, water treatment systems, and electrification of docks (Cold Ironing).

  • Port-City Integration: Projects that improve the connection between the club and the city of Valencia (public access, sports promotion, or cultural spaces) are heavily weighted in the approval process.

  • Economic Viability: A detailed financial plan must demonstrate that the club can afford these investments while remaining solvent over the extended period.

As of early 2026, the RCNV has officially initiated the request for a substantial modification. This move is intended to secure the club's future beyond 2030, likely involving a multi-million-euro renovation plan for the club's facilities and moorings
